SINGAPORE - Charge+, a leading provider of electric vehicle (EV) charging solutions in Southeast Asia, has announced the acquisition of 140 public or shared EV chargers from three Singaporean companies, namely eChargz Pte Ltd (“eChargz”), Quickcharge.sg Pte Ltd (“Quickcharge”) and PaC Components Pte Ltd (“PacCom”).

These acquisitions will boost the number of charging points by Charge+ in Singapore to about 2,500, thereby strengthening Charge+’s position as the largest EV charging operator in Singapore. The acquired chargers are located in 42 properties that include condominiums and commercial buildings such as Esplanade.

The EV Charging Act of Singapore has commenced in 2023. The Act regulates the safe charging of EVs, ensures the provision of reliable EV charging services, and expands the network of accessible charging infrastructure in Singapore. To ensure EV charging network reliability, EV charging operators providing charging services to the public, need a license to operate from 8 December 2024 onwards. Licensees will be required to maintain the service uptime of chargers in their network, purchase public liability insurance to cover their operations and provide charging-related data to the Land Transport Authority (LTA).

Arising from the EV Charging Act, the industry has undergone some consolidation in 2024 which resulted in the acquisitions which Charge+ undertook. Charge+ remains steadfast to meeting the requirements of the EV Charging Act and to our corporate emphasis on achieving economies of scale, cost competitiveness and providing a reliable charging service.

Goh Chee Kiong, CEO of Charge+, said, "In line with our goal to be a major EV charging player in Singapore and Southeast Asia, Charge+ is pleased to expand our Singapore network through the acquisitions of EV chargers from three Singaporean companies. We are excited with extending our charging service to more properties while at the same time, sustain the quality and performance standards required under the EV Charging Act."

Lindy Lee, Director at Quickcharge, said, "Quickcharge had started a few years ago as a comprehensive EV charging solution provider. With our decision to be more focused in our charging solutions offering, we are pleased to partner Charge+ which has acquired our existing public EV chargers and will continue to provide a reliable EV charging service to the existing properties. We look forward to more synergies with Charge+ in other aspects of the EV ecosystem."
